Our lives unfold in seven-year cycles related to the development of new aspects of the soul. By drawing on Steiner's insights and the images of Grimm's fairytale "The Donkey", this course will give us the opportunity to look back over our lives and uncover some of the threads that weave through our life story.
In the story of "The Donkey" we meet loss of innocence, obstacles, and limitations. We also meet perseverance, self reflection, and courage. We accompany the donkey on his life's journey, trying to perceive the questions life puts to us. In this way, we can begin to see the wisdom that lies at the heart of our challenges and opportunities, and discover the truths that free us to stand as responsible human beings, able to face the future with courage and resolve.
Mornings will include small group work, writing exercises, and pastel and black and white drawing. We will devote afternoons to watercolor, where we will enter into the mood and meaning of the story through color, and each engage in bringing forth aspects of the story that have touched our hearts.
