Imaginative Language of Fairy Tales-An Artistic Exploration
Fairy tales and traditional folk stories contain hidden treasures of wisdom which manifest themselves in their poetic language of images, rhythms and sounds. In this course we will develop a creative approach to unraveling the threads of ancient tales and stories. We will begin by studying a well known fairy tale through deciphering its unique vocabulary of images through painting, drawing and storytelling. Please bring along your favorite tale. Participants will be guided to artistically explore their tale, develop an understanding of its hidden truth and find an individual approach to telling it. The course will culminate in a celebration of storytelling, with each participant telling his/her tale. Kindergarten and elementary grade teachers and anyone who is intrigued by ancient tales and their hidden wisdom will find this one-week intensive rich and inspiring.
